5 things a guy should not do at his first date

5 things a guy should not do at his first date

Every successful date requires at least some pre-date planning and preparation. Getting things right in the days leading up to the main event will ensure you don’t get dumped before the date even happens. When it comes to dates, regardless of what you believe is fair, there are simply things that are unacceptable for you to do if you're a certain gender. Men do things that women wouldn't be able to get away with on a first date. It’s natural to feel nervous about meeting a stranger. Happily, we’re here to help. If you’re wondering what not to do on a first date, here are the top 10 things to avoid.

Don’t Show up late

It’s generally fine for a woman to be a few minutes tardy to a date. I mean, I get it , ladies tend to put a great amount of effort into getting “ready,” and I surely wouldn’t dare rush the process or hold it against them.

It’s a bit different when you’re trying to prove how much of a gentleman you are and find yourself running 15 minutes late.

Spill the beans

Don’t get into explicit detail about what you like in bed and how you want the job done. Leave something to the imagination. There will be plenty of time for that later.

Comment on what the other person is or isn’t eating

What not to do on a first date? Comment on their appetite! Whether your date isn’t eating much – or they’re eating a lot – I can guarantee that they don’t want you to make conversation about it. By all means, check that they like the food, but don’t go beyond that.

Take Her to The Movies On The First Date

When you go to the movies you literally have nothing to do but sit quietly and watch the movie. You are positioned away from your girl. You have a stupid cup-holding barricade in between you two. You try desperately and unsuccessfully to come up with funny comments relating to the movie. You basically sit through two hours of torture watching some crappy movie about god-knows-what, and when it finally ends and the lights turn on, you’ve virtually spent two boring and awkward-filled hours with a complete stranger!

Being distracted

If you're constantly looking down at your phone and/or looking around the room while you're on a first date, it'll likely also be your last. Sure, you may have things on your mind, but your lack of focus shows this person that he not a priority, and not worth your time or attention.
If you met on a dating app which, to be honest, basically everyone does now you will probably have analyzed each other's profiles excessively.
Some people are transparent and you get exactly what you expected, but others come across completely differently on their profile than in person.

Sometimes it doesn't matter, and you feel a spark anyway. Other times, you can feel a little cheated, because you don't really know how to talk to the stranger you're sitting with.
But even if this happens, it doesn't have to be a waste of time. According to Elite Daily, it's a good way to get feedback. For example, you can be honest about the fact you didn't feel the chemistry, and you were misled by someone's profile. Even though you're saying no to a second date, you haven't wasted their time.
